I have never been to the Sahara and it was always something that was on my Morocco bucket list.

Still can’t take it off my bucket list though… but thanks to Scarabeo Camp I did get to experience a bit of Morocco’s mystical desert! About 40 minutes from the m’dina of Marrakech you can find a little paradise on earth – Agafay Desert. Still untouched by development, it is the best option if you want to get away from the lively souks and city.

The Scarabeo ”Stone Desert” camp, which is located in the middle of Agafay has 7 white berber room tents and 3 private suite tents. Each room has a bed room view over the beautiful Atlas Mountains of Morocco, and if you think that was it – you can also recline in a traditional Moroccan lounge strewn with ethnic cushions, lay down in one of their sunbeds or enjoy a delicious traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars – or like we did – under the sun and with a splendid view over the Atlas Mountains.

We were spoiled with different kind of mezzes, healthy fresh juices, spicy grilled chicken and home baked bread. After our amazing lunch, we went to the lounge sofa and had the sweetest Moroccan cookies and of course, my favorite, Moroccan mint tea ;).

Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to do some more activities, but next time we’ll definitely join one of Scarabeo’s yoga classes, horse-riding, camel ride or quad biking activities!
