I have stayed in many different places during my trips in Marrakech, and so far they were all amazing & beautiful. But there are some that pop into my mind every time someone asks me which one is a favorite. And this is one of them!
First of all, I love this resort! Besides the stunning interior, kind team, best location and yummy food, Es Saadi has a great history (and I love history!). Es Saadi, which means ‘The Happy One’, was built in the 1966 and owned by Jean Bauchet, the same man who developed the Moulin Rouge in Paris & owned Casino de Paris. Big Hollywood stars like The Rolling Stones, couturier Pierre Balmain and Leonardo Dicrapio stayed here before.
Es Saadi Resort is located in the heart of the ‘Golden Triangle’ of Marrakech with a view over the snowy Atlas Mountains. It’s only a short walk from Jemaa el-Fna square and souks yet, because of the quietness, you’ll feel like you’re miles away! The resort is surrounded by eight hectares of gardens planted with orange trees, bougainvillea, roses, palm trees, banana trees and a “lagoon” swimming pool of 2400 m2 with a bar where you can enjoy drinks while sitting in the pool. Perfect for the hot Summer days :).
The Palace offers 92 suites, 10 private villas around the gardens and 8 Ksars. All suites overlook the garden and have views of the Atlas Mountains. It has a 3000 m2 Palace Spa, built around a 100-year-old eucalyptus – how gorgeous is that? During our days at The Palace we stayed at a ‘Suite Deluxe’ with our own living room, dining table, huge bathroom and a big bed from where could go straight to a big terrace which had a view over the gorgeous Atlas Mountains and sunset every night. The complete interior gave us a feeling of coming home each time we entered our room. I am am quiet a dreamer and I tend to wake up a few times whenever I don’t sleep in my own bed – but in this bed I slept like a rose! After a good night sleep we decided to order room service and have breakfast in our room. No words needed for the amount of yummyness seen in the pictures below. Can I have this breakfast every day please?!
I really have a thing with spa’s (besides zelij, atay & mojito’s) and I’m in love with Es Saadi’s! Their spa offers traditional signature massages and daily yoga. After relaxing in the spa, you can go straight to one of their restaurants. And that’s exactly what we did :). After our relaxing massages around 16pm, we laid down and relaxed on one of their waterbeds and were surprised with sweet mint tea and cookies. After we got dressed we went straight to our dining location…
Es Saadi has a wide choice of restaurants built inside the hotel (so you never have to leave)! You can choose to have typical traditional Moroccan dishes at ‘La Cour des Lions’ or enjoy different sorts of Venetian dishes at their newest restaurant ‘Othello’. Of course we had to try it out! If you want to have a romantic dinner, please don’t skip Othello! The restaurant with marine and vegetable cuisine faces a garden lit by candles which gives the ultimate romantic & intimate vibes. Their menu changes per season and catch of the day: Venetian sardines, spaghetti with sea spider, filet of sea bream.. it’s all there. An article about my experience here will be online soon.
Es Saadi keeps surprising us during every stay, and they never seem to disappoint us. Thank you Es Saadi Resort, for yet another unforgettable stay. Up to many more!
